UP-TO-THE-MINUTE GULF OIL SPILL REPORTS FOR SOUTHWEST FLORIDA

One television news source says this, another says that. The newspaper writes an inflammatory article to sell papers. BP has their public announcements, the White House has theirs.  In the meantime, folks all over the world think that all of the beaches along the Gulf of Mexico are dripping with oil. Not true!

I have a new source of information to share: the Florida State Emergency Response Team offers a website with a map, describing activities, sightings and reports of the oil spill in Florida waters and states west of us. Don’t rely on heresay and innuendo: check this out for a true report  http://map.floridadisaster.org/GATOR/

And remember, you can contact me directly at any time regarding details of SW Florida weather, water, boating, and Real Estate conditions! I am happy to help!

New Mortage Lender in Cape Coral, Florida Coldwell Banker Office

I was pleased to meet Brad King, Senior Loan Officer for Sunbelt Lending Services, at our sales meeting today. Brad has years of experience in mortgage lending and offers many options for today’s home buyer that needs financing to purchase.  He is local, responsive and professional. Having the lender here, in SW Florida, makes a big difference in service level throughout the transaction.

We look forward to working with Brad and invite you to contact him whenever you might have a need or questions about home mortgages. You can reach Brad King at 239-822-6338 (cell) or bking@sunbeltlending.com

SAVE OUR BEACHES IN SOUTHWEST FLORIDA!!!

My partner, Rob Ricca, told me that his son (in Maine) asked how we’re doing with the oil on our beaches. I just returned from a cross-country road trip (more about that in future letters) and many of the folks I encountered thought the same thing, that we are being inundated with oil from the Gulf of Mexico.

The present facts are this: SW Florida beaches are beautiful and without the effects of the BP Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico. However, what will really destroy our beaches would be a lack of commerce, now and in the future.  Bed taxes from hotel rooms are used to fund many local development projects for our community. Charities that support people and wildlife alike receive monies from local businesses and their patrons.

Now is an excellent time to visit SW Florida:
1. The Gulf water temperatures are finally perfect for swimming after a very cold winter
2. Hotel rates are much less than in the winter
3. Restaurants have terrific prices and less wait time for a table
4. Attractions have excellent packages for summer
5. Real Estate prices, although they have increased year-over-year still are an excellent value, allowing pre-retirees and savvy investors to purchase now and enjoy future gains.

Feel free to contact me for assistance in planning your trip! My 19+ years in the travel business and 25 year as a Florida resident can provide you with some good tips. I’d be glad to help and look forward to welcoming you to SW Florida!

All the best,
Susan Ball
